Astrovamps

THIS INTERVIEW WAS ANSWERED BY EYAJO JOSEPH OF THE ''ASTROVAMPS'' ON A COLD
RAINY NIGHT IN HOLLYWOOD CALIFORNIA, 1/30/2008.

DarkArt: When and how was born your band?
EYAJO: Astrovamps was formed in late december of 1990 after daniel and i broke
up the glam/punk band called the Babydolls. We wanted to form a band with our
dark musical influences. The name was suggested by daniel and i agreed, i always
like the B-movie Horror feel the name had. I also thought it describe our style
of deathrock music best.

DarkArt: What are you major musical and artistic influences?
EYAJO:
some of my major influences are; bauhaus, christian death (rozz), joy
division, astrovamps, stars from mars, skinny puppy, the black heroin gallery,
45 grave, specimen, the velvet underground, doors, duran duran, new york dolls
and all the classic Poets.

DarkArt: What are the subject that you prefer to talk about in your
lyrics?
EYAJO:
being a poet/lyricist i have many subjects that i talk about, but since
ASTROVAMPS is a collaboration between daniel essex and myself, i write from my
experiences and daniel's experiences or from universal truths or fiction. But
here are some of the themes written about in the VAMPS; death, love, Hollywood's
dark side, Hollywood's anti heros and villains, witchcraft, sex, porn and
demented nursery rhymes.

DarkArt: If you must to choice one of your songs who could be the
most representative of you band, which one do you choice?
EYAJO:
i would choose 3, somebody forgot to tell me i was dead, lament of the
undead and monsters in tinsel town.

DarkArt: Have you a cd that we can buy (for France)?
EYAJO:
yes our cds should be available there.

DarkArt: What are your plans for the futur?
EYAJO:
well ASTROVAMPS is officially disbanded right now. but I've been busy
working with my new deathrock band, THE BLACK HEROIN GALLERY. I also
play keyboards with the band WILLOW WISP. I have a new book being published
soon. So I'm keeping busy.

DarkArt: One word for our readers?
EYAJO:
what we do in life, echos through eternity.
